From July 6 to July 9, 2024, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, led a delegation to Cambridge University Press and Assessment. This visit, which included other key officials such as Ali Raza, Education Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Dr. Syeda Zia Batool, Chairperson of PEIRA, and Rashid Ali, Joint Secretary of the Ministry, aimed to explore new avenues for educational collaboration. The agenda featured a blend of conferences, meetings, and tours, all designed to enhance mutual understanding and foster partnerships. The delegation participated in the Cambridge Schools Conference, where Dr. Siddiqui delivered a notable address emphasizing the significance of effective communication in education, aligning with the conference's theme, "Effective communication: from competence to confidence." During the visit, Dr. Siddiqui and his team engaged in fruitful discussions with Cambridge officials, including Jane Mann, Managing Director of Cambridge Partnership for Education, and Tim Oates, Group Director of Assessment Research and Development. These sessions covered a broad range of topics, from global educational practices to climate education. One of the highlights was a detailed tour of the Cambridge archives, showcasing the longstanding educational ties between Pakistan and Cambridge. Dr. Siddiqui remarked on the importance of these historical connections and how they have continuously contributed to the enhancement of educational standards in Pakistan. The Minister and the Punjab representative highlighted three key areas for future collaboration: enhanced teacher training, alignment of curriculum standards, and integrating climate change education through a comprehensive curriculum approach. The visit also included key social and networking events, providing the delegation with opportunities to build relationships and explore collaborative projects. A lunch meeting with Dr. Kamal Munir, Pro Vice Chancellor of the Judge Business School, further solidified the potential for future partnerships. The delegation concluded their visit with a guided tour of Cambridge University, reinforcing the shared commitment to educational excellence and international cooperation. Dr. Siddiqui’s participation highlighted Pakistan’s dedication to improving its education sector through global collaboration and innovative practices.
