Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) revolutionized and uplifted the society and it is acting as key component for economic development. She was addressing the keynote session of Champions of Change Women Leadership Program held at Telenor Pakistan head office here on Thursday. Shaza Fatima noted that in this rapidly evolving digital landscape, the full and equal participation of women is not just desirable buy imperative. Women make up half of our population, and their meaningful engagement in the digital economy is not only a matter of social justice but also driver of economic growth and innovation. Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication said that women are playing pivotal role in shaping our digital future. She said Ministry of IT & Telecom is committed to implementing policies and initiatives that promote gender equality and women empowerment in digital sector. She emphasized the need of collective action and collaboration of all stakeholders, including government, private sector, civil society and academia, to create a truly inclusive digital ecosystem where every women has opportunity to thrive and succeed. Earlier, Khurrum Ashfaque, the CEO of Telenor Pakistan, stressed the importance of digital inclusion and narrowing the gender gap. "We remain dedicated to promoting women's leadership and assisting young female professionals in realising their full potential. Prioritising inclusivity is crucial, especially in this digital age. Women play a vital role in shaping the future, and their unique skills and talents can ensure that future technologies and structures benefit everyone," he said.
