The Federal Minister for Industries & Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain chaired a review meeting of Engineering Development Board today. Mr. Raza Abbas Shah, the Chief Executive Officer gave detailed briefing on working, achievement, ongoing projects and future development plans of EDB. Federal Minister stated that EDB should play a proactive role on modern lines to facilitate manufacturing and designing of engineering products. The policy and regulatory framework needs revision on immediate basis to foster growth, innovation, and competitiveness within the engineering industry. EDB should play a leading role in attracting domestic and foreign investments in the engineering sector. By creating a conducive environment for investment, it can stimulates economic growth and industrial expansion. The Federal Minister remarked that EDB has failed to achieve desired objective for which it was established. It should facilitate the transfer of technology and promote its adoption within the engineering industry. This will help in upgrading manufacturing processes, enhancing productivity, and staying competitive in the global market. The Federal Minister expressed that EDB has vital role in promoting exports of engineering goods and services from Pakistan. By facilitating market access, trade exhibitions, and export incentives, it could help to expand the international presence of Pakistani engineering firms. The Federal Minister directed CEO EDB to present future development action plan and proposal to remove barriers that are hampering growth in engineering industry for consideration.
