His Excellency Ambassador Jakob Linulf of the Royal Danish Embassy called on Mr.
Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, the Federal Secretary Minister of Health Services, Regulations and
Coordination, to discuss matters pertaining to the health sector in Pakistan. Both dignitaries
engaged in fruitful discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between Denmark and Pakistan
in the field of healthcare.
During the meeting, Federal Secretary highlighted the challenge of insulin shortage
faced by Pakistan and emphasized the importance of addressing this issue to ensure the well-
being of patients suffering from various diseases. Ambassador Jakob Linulf expressed
confidence in Pakistan's ability to overcome challenges in the health sector.
Secretary Iftikhar Ali Shallwani apprised the Ambassador about Pakistan's efforts to
stabilize drug prices through the deregulation of non-essential drugs and emphasized the
country's commitment to reducing reliance on imports by boosting local pharmaceutical
manufacturing. Both dignitaries agreed that increased competition in the pharmaceutical market
would contribute to lowering prices and improving accessibility to essential medicines.
Furthermore, the discussion touched upon the growing problem of diabetes and obesity
in Pakistan. Both sides recognized the need for a joint strategy and initiatives to raise
awareness among the masses.
Ambassador Jakob Linulf expressed Denmark's commitment to collaborate with
Pakistan in tackling health sector challenges and improving healthcare services.
