A meeting was held in Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination (NHSR & C) under the chair of Federal Secretary NHSR & C, Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, to review the progress made on Pakistan National Health Support Project for Ensuring Health Coverage in Federating Areas. The meeting was attended by representative World Bank (WB), Manav Bhattari, representative Global Financing Facilties (GFF), Ghazna Siddiqui and Director Programs M/o NHSR & C, Dr. Mariyam Sarfraz. Pakistan National Health Support Project for ensuring universal health coverage in Federating Areas is a three year project executed by NHSR & C through the health departments of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The project is aimed to strengthen the health system, build the core capacities and implement the Essential Package of Health Service (EPHS) in ICT and three districts each in GB and AJK to provide essential health services to the public. Representatives of WB and GFF assured the Ministry of their organizations’ continued support to implementing the project for improved Universal Health Coverage (UHC), especially in underserved and rural areas. The Federal Secreatry (M/o NHSR & C) said that the project would ensure essential health services to the communities and improve the overall condition of the primary health centers of the targeted regions. He expressed satisfaction over the progress made on the project. He also instructed the relevant officials to utilize all necessary resources in order to expedite the execution of the project so that the people of ICT, AJK and GB could start reaping the benefits of the project as early as possible.
