Caretaker Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research Dr. Kausar Abdullah Malik has said that the Federal Government would provide all possible support for the agricultural revolution in Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that the soil of Gilgit-Baltistan has unique potential for agriculture, commodities and dry-fruits. He expressed these views during a meeting with the Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan Mr. Gulbar Khan on Wednesday. Dr. Kausar Abdullah Malik said that the federal government is still supplying 100% local wheat to Gilgit-Baltistan and local wheat will be supplied next year as well. On this occasion, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Mr. Gulbar Khan thanked the federal government for the steps taken to solve the wheat problems on a priority basis. The Federal Minister stressed that directives would be issued to the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) to form a team for further increasing the agricultural potential of Gilgit-Baltistan so that Gilgit-Baltistan becomes self-sufficient in agriculture sector in the future. He said that the Gilgit-Baltistan government should prepare a proposal regarding the supply and delivery of wheat for its convenience, which will be earnestly considered.
