Prime Minister's Special Representative on Religious Affairs and Pakistani Diaspora in the Middle East and Muslim Countries, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, on Tuesday underscored the crucial role of pulpit and arch (Mehrab-o-Mimbr) as potent tools for disseminating the true message of Islam. Addressing an event to award degrees to protectors of the Holy Quran here at Jamea Madinia Marhaba Masjid, he emphasized their ability to counter disinformation and educate people at every nook and cranny of the country. Addressing the importance of these traditional elements within Islamic architecture, Ashrafi who is also the Chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council highlighted their historical significance in imparting religious teachings. He stressed that the pulpit and arch served as powerful mediums to reach communities across the nation, enabling the promotion of authentic Islamic values and countering any misconceptions. Ashrafi further explained that by utilizing these platforms, religious leaders could directly engage with the masses, fostering a deeper understanding of the core principles of Islam. In an era where disinformation can spread rapidly, he emphasized the need for continuous education to combat misinformation effectively. He further emphasized the pivotal role of the pulpit and arch in countering negative propaganda against national interests. Ashrafi contended that these traditional elements could actively contribute to steering the country towards progress. He emphasized that by utilizing religious spaces, the government could collaborate with religious leaders to disseminate messages that promote unity, progress, and a positive national narrative. The Special Representative outlined plans to collaborate with religious scholars, institutions, and mosques nationwide to enhance the use of pulpits and arches for educational purposes and social reforms in the society. This initiative could create a comprehensive strategy to counter misinformation and promote the true teachings of Islam, he added. As part of these efforts, Ashrafi mentioned the development of educational programmes and materials that would be distributed through mosques, leveraging these traditional structures as focal points for community learning. He expressed optimism that this approach would contribute significantly to promoting a more informed and educated society. He urged religious leaders and communities to actively participate in this educational initiative, emphasizing the collective responsibility in countering disinformation and ensuring the accurate dissemination of Islamic teachings throughout the country. Ashrafi emphasized Pakistan's commitment to fostering friendly ties with all neighboring nations, including Iran. He made it unequivocal that Pakistan prioritized national security and sovereignty, signaling that these principles would not be compromised at all costs. Addressing the recent tension with Iran, Ashrafi highlighted Pakistan's global recognition for its proactive measures in maintaining peace and stability in the region. He credited the Pakistani government and military leadership for their decisive actions, which had garnered significant appreciation on the international stage. On this occasion, Ashrafi drew attention to the critical weather conditions prevailing in Pakistan underscoring the imperative need for precipitation, and emphasizing the profound impact of weather patterns on the nation's overall well-being. Ashrafi went on to announce a nationwide prayer initiative, known as 'Namaz-e-Istisqa,' specifically organized to seek divine intervention for much-needed rainfall. He said the special prayer had been meticulously scheduled for observance across the country this Friday, aligning with a collective effort to invoke spiritual blessings and encourage rain to address the ongoing weather challenges. As the country grapples with dry weather and potential repercussions on agriculture and water resources, Ashrafi said the 'Namaz-e-Istisqa' initiative was expected to draw widespread participation from various communities and religious groups. Following the conclusion of the ceremony, Ashrafi, alongside Maulana Muhammad Nauman Hashir, Maulana Muhammad Tahir Aqeel, and other distinguished religious scholars and leaders, awarded certificates and cash prizes to the deserving protectors of the Holy Quran
