The 46th meeting of the Board of Governors of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Food Security and Research Dr. Kausar Abdullah Malik. On this occasion, Chairman PARC Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Member Finance Division Muhammad Saeedullah Yousafzai, Member In-Charge (Plant Science Division) Dr. Imtiaz Hussain, Member In-Charge (Coordination and Monitoring Division) Dr. Falak Naaz, Member In-Charge (Animal Science Division) Dr. S. Murtaza Hasan Andrabi, Member In-Charge (Natural Resources Division) Dr. Shahid Maqsud Gul. Member In-Charge (Social Sciences Division) Dr. Ghulam Sadiq Afridi, Director General NARC Dr. Shehzada Asad and Secretary PARC Muhammad Ishaq were also present. While presiding over the meeting, Federal Minister for Food Security and Research Dr. Kausar Abdullah Malik said that PARC should take full measures to benefit the farmers from their experiences, scientific staff plays an important role in any research institute, scientific staff is the backbone of PARC. Dr. Kausar Abdullah Malik emphasized that a committee should be formed as soon as possible for the recruitment of scientific staff on a permanent basis and a plan should be drawn up in accordance with the rules and regulations so that talent is provided opportunities in their own land instead of going abroad. The Minister said that the efforts of our scientific staff in agriculture are exemplary, constant liaison should be maintained with all the provinces regarding experiences in agriculture sector so that they can be provided more support from research in agriculture sector. The Minister suggested that the meetings of the Board of Governors should be held in the provinces as well and the experiences of the agricultural experts of the provinces should also be utilized. He said that the meetings of the Board of Governors should be held without delay and all the resources and effective measures should be used to deliver fruits and results of the meeting to the masses.
