Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Human Rights and Women Empowerment Mushaal Hussein Mullick called upon the leadership of OIC to take practical steps to save her incarcerated husband Yasin Malik’s life and of all oppressed Kashmiris and Palestinians, who were facing gender based violence including sexual harassment, rape as a weapon of war, arbitrary detentions, molestations and trafficking of women. Speaking at an International Conference on Women in Islam organised by OIC and KSA Foreign Affairs Ministry, Mushaal said that she would like to appreciate the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia (KSA) and the Crown Prince of Saudia Arabia Muhammad Bin Salman for his dynamic role in enhancing the role of women upliftment according to the Vision 2030 policy under which Saudi women witness enhancement in their status in the field of sustained development. She said: “Pakistan takes pride as one of the staunchest supporters of women rights and women leadership.” Mushaal contended that at the OIC Pakistan has spearheaded various initiatives for women’s rights and has convened ministerial conference on women in Islam as the chair of the 48th CFM in New York. The SAPM on Human Rights and Women Empowerment went on to say: “I am also a peaceful freedom fighter, our family is at the forefront of Kashmir’s struggle for the right to self determination against Indian Occupation.” However, she noted: “India has gifted our family with enormous titles , I am practically a half widow, my husband locked in a death cell of Tihar jail is a half father and our 11 year old daughter is a half orphan. We have not seen him since 9 years and spent only 60 days in a marriage of 14 and a half years.” Mushaal pointed out that India has left them homeless, besides they witnessed various incidents of sexual harassments , tortures, arrests, attacks and threats ,even her daughter was not spared , she was sexually harassed, body searched ,pampers torn when she visited her jailed father in central jail at the tender age of two. The SAPM on Human Rights and Women Empowerment said that she wanted to ask the world a question today through this powerful platform that what more a price do the Kashmiri people have to pay for being held hostage, locked up, kidnapped by a tyrant who was not willing to except any ransom except for genocide through body bags and meticulously manipulating demographic changes in blatant violations of Geneva Conventions , international law and UNSCRs. “I, as the daughter of the Muslim Ummah asks, where is my husband? Where is the father of Raziya Sultana ? Where is Mohammad Yasin Malik,” she asked, adding that a child deprived of hugging her father from nine years, whose only crime was leading the struggle for Azadi of Kashmiris. She highlighted that He was not just a freedom fighter or a political icon but a preacher of non-violent, Ghandian movement and thus symbol of peaceful solution of Kashmir issue, adding, “If peace is not an option then definitely war is the answer between two nuclear countries.” Mushaal said that the world should witness, as RSS-inspired Narendra Modi wanted to hang Yasin because he wanted to silence one of the biggest and powerful voices of freedom which was the basic right of every human being. “Yasin Malik is innocent along with thousands of other Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and political Prisoners locked up in countless jails of India, if anything happens to him, Modi will be solely responsible for this murder,” she warned. Mushaal alarmed that the world should take notice of the situation or else the response of Kashmiri people would also be violent, as there was a strong chance of youth picking up the gun again or becoming suicide bombers. “People are talking about the horrors of the militancy of Hammas -Israel conflict and the destabilisation in Palestine. My question is, how did we get here? Who is responsible for this,” she asked. Mushaal urged that if the democratic voices of peace and non violence were killed, hanged, jailed, banned, if the voices of pacifism were suffocated then, they left these oppressed and cornered people with no choice but to choose violence to make their voices heard. “I repeat these horrors are the seeds that we sow with our own hands and the criminal silence for not stopping war crimes. We are leading the world order towards a collapse as global peace, economies and security is directly linked to a peaceful settlement of Kashmir and Palestine issue,” she maintained. The SAPM on Human Rights and Women Empowerment said that muslim women and children of Kashmir and Palestine were facing gender based violence including sexual harassment, rape as a weapon of war, post traumatic stress disorder, arbitrary detentions, molestations, trafficking of women, forced disappearances, socio economic burdens, legal issues, fertility issues, high ratios of suicide and depression, threats, malnourishment, lack of reporting and all defined as war crimes. “Pakistan has always remained committed towards supporting the legitimate freedom struggle of the Kashmirs and call for immediate resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the UN resolutions. Simultaneously Pakistan also strongly condemns Israeli crimes against humanity against innocent children, women and men of Palestine,” she added. Mushaal demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, an end to blockade of Gaza, full access to international Humanitarian organisations to send, medicine, food and water supplies to the beleaguered people.
