The Federal Minister for Railways, Communication & Maritime, Shahid Ashraf Tarar chaired a high level meeting at Ministry of Railways to discuss self-reliance plan of Pakistan Railways. He said that Pakistan Railways is following three pronged strategy to revive and expand railways in Pakistan. These include safety, efficiency and self-reliance. Pakistan Railways has taken several initiatives to cut cost and enhance its revenue. The improvement in administrative and operational areas are underway in Pakistan Railways which are expected to bring efficiency. The existing infrastructure, rolling stock, factories and railway stations will be improved through private sector investments. He further said that the journey by train is a great means of connecting people living in different regions of Pakistan besides preferred mode of comfortable journey of masses.
