Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Jamal Shah on Thursday directed Lok Virsa to add more fun and engaging cultural diversity activities including music, traditional food and the works of skilled artisans in ten-day folk festival to be held in November 2023. Chairing a meeting attended by Executive Director Lok Virsa Muzafar Ali Burki and other senior officials, the minister said that folk festival will play a pivotal role in portraying country’s real image and will bring a quality entertainment for the visitors. Highlighting various aspects of promoting cultural diversity, Jamal Shah said that the culture pavilion of Chitral, Kelash and other small regions would be set up to promote the indigenous cultural diversity of the country. He said that all our languages should come to act as a binding force. “We have a diverse cultural legacy and that should be promoted.”, he added The minister said that special puzzle competitions and storytelling sessions would be arranged in different languages for youth during ten-day folk festival. Earlier, the minister was briefed that the folk festival will be attended by over 500 artisans and folk artists from all four provinces including Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir. A ten-day folk festival would focus on provincial harmony and national integration while highlighting the contribution of our people in building the future of our country.
