In order to encourage and motivate youth of Pakistan to acquire skills and training in Technical & Vocational streams, National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has organized “National Skills Competition” across the country in which trainees from different TVET Institutes (Private & Public sector) have participated with enthusiasm and exhibited their Skills in 10 diversified trades including plumbing, welding, beautician, dress making, hospitality, general electrician, web development, auto-cad and graphic designing.

These skills competitions have been held at Islamabad, Karachi, Haiderabad, Lahore, Malakand, Hazara, Mirpur AJK, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Sargodha in which hundreds of trainees participated. Many renowned industrialists were present at these competitions who praised the skills and quality of training of the participants and offered them with jobs as per their skills which is a very positive step towards reduction of poverty and unemployment from the county. On this occasion, tool kits, certificates and cash prizes of Rs. 20,000/-, Rs. 15,000/- and Rs. 10,000/- were distributed amongst the 1st 2nd and 3rd position holders of each trade respectively. In the first and second weeks of February, skills competition would be held at Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sukkur, Multan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Bannu.

It is worth mentioning that female trainees participated alongside male trainees in these competitions and displayed their skills in the competitions of Beautician and Dress making & Designing. Ms. Sadia Ijaz, Rukhsana Bibi and Mehwish Shafaet gained first position, second and third position respectively in the dressmaking competition while Ms. Naila Firdous and Ms. Nimra Irfan gained first and second position respectively in the beautician skills competition held at Islamabad. Moreover, female trainees also participated in Web development and Graphic designing competitions with great enthusiasm.
