PR No.56 SHAHID ASHRAF TARAR PRESIDES OVER 44th MEETING OF NHC TO FOCUS ON INCREASE IN REVENUE THROUGH VARIOUS SCHEMES Islamabad:September 07, 2023

Federal Minister for Communications and Railways Mr. Shahid Ashraf Tarar presided over the 44th meeting of National Highway Council-Supreme body of National Highway Authority, held at the Ministry of Communications here today. Federal Secretary Communications/Chairman National Highway Authority Capt (R) Muhammad Khurram Agha, and high ups from Finance Division, Planning & Development Division, Highway Construction Expert, Financial Professional and the senior officers of Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority participated. Addressing the meeting, Federal Minister of Communications and Railways Mr. Shahid Ashraf Tarar stressed to focus on undertaking new various schemes to increase revenues of the Authority at large. For this purpose, NHC took the decision of creating a new position of Member Revenue while going through revenue analysis of the past ten years. Moreover, the Federal Minister directed to launch a comprehensive media campaign for implementation of hike in violation fines on Motorways and National Highways across the country. He further said, pace of work on construction of residential apartments for NHA employees be geared up. He desired to further improve the maintenance affairs of Motorways and National Highways and that maximum travelling and civic amenities on service and rest areas be ensured for ease of the travelers. Mr. Shahid Ashraf Tarar emphasized upon beautification of Motorways loops that will ultimately improve environmental conditions and this will be a practical step forward towards achieving an environmentally friendly roads network in the country. The Federal Secretary Communications and Chairman National Highway Authority Captain (R) Muhammad Khurram Agha also gave a detailed briefing regarding the functioning, scope, financial and administrative affairs of the NHA. **
