Federal Minister for Energy Engr. Khurram Dastgir's media briefing with NTDC and HESCO officials in Hyderabad Waterong Colony. I have reached Sindh on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Due to the storm, the electricity system has not been affected so far. There have been minor incidents. Electricity poles and towers have fallen in Thatta and Sajawal. The electricity system has been fully restored. The intensity of the storm has affected the port and LNG supply has been affected. We have given indigenous gas to K-Electric so that there is no energy crisis in the country. The Ministry of Energy as a national agency is working in this situation. Hyderabad Electric Supply has planned everything effectively. All our teams are on high alert wherever the power supply is affected, it will be restored immediately. All are ready to deal with the Power supply shortage amidst cyclone in coastal areas. We are continuously monitoring the system. We have also stopped normal load shedding. There are 12 transmission lines that may be affected. Our teams are on alert, if there is any disruption, steps will be taken for immediate power supply. Despite the objections of the IMF, we are implementing the same tariff for all the citizens of the country. We gave relief under the national policy. We have spent so many months without the IMF and we can continue to do so but all the financial institutions are affiliated to the IMF. Two and a half billion dollars is not a big deal.
