The first meeting of Pakistan-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group was held in National Assembly Secretariat, Islamabad. Ms. Javaria Zafar Aheer, MNA/Convener of Pakistan-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) alongwith the Members, Syed Javed Hasnain, MNA, Makhdoom Syed Sami Ul Hassan Gillani, MNA and Engr. Sabir Hussain Kaim Khani, MNA met with H.E. Mr. Andrei METELITSA, Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan on Tuesday, 13th June, 2023 at 1400 hours at Parliament House, Islamabad. Ms. Javaria Zafar Aheer, MNA/Convener of Pakistan-Belarus PFG expressed satisfaction with the cordial relations based on mutual respect, friendship and trust established between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and highly appreciated the bilateral meetings and interaction at high levels. The Convener proposed to develop a plan of joint events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Andrei METELITSA, Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan highlighted that Belarus regarded Pakistan as an important country in the region and appreciated its efforts to promote regional peace and stability. Agreement between the Government of Belarus and the Government of Pakistan on the Abolition of Visas for holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports was welcomed by the Members of Pak-Belarus PFG. Ms. Javaria Zafar Aheer highlighted Pakistan’s potential to export textile and agriculture products and medical and surgical equipment to Belarus while benefiting from Belarusian expertise for joint ventures in heavy machinery and plants. She especially mentioned that the tractors and heavy trucks are the identity of Belarus due to their power and reliability. The Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus invited the Pak-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group to visit the Republic of Belarus in July 2023 to attend an International Cultural Festival. Ms. Javaria Zafar Aheer mentioned that Parliamentary Friendship Groups of both countries could play a pivotal role in promoting parliamentary diplomacy, people to people contacts and augment parliamentary relations. She assured that existing bilateral relations between two countries will strengthen further through mutual cooperation, understanding and interactions at all levels.
