PR No. 130 Fire incident in Saudi Arabia hotel, Sajid Hussain Turi expressed deep regret for the loss of precious lives. Islamabad: May 20, 2023

A fire incident occurred in the city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia. According to the report of the Jeddah-based Pakistani Community Welfare Attaché, fourteen Pakistani Umrah pilgrims were present in the hotel. In which there are reports of eight martyrdoms and six injured pilgrims. Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Sajid Hussain Turi expressed regret over the loss of precious lives due to the fire in Makkah. The Federal Minister issued directions to the Overseas Pakistani Foundation (OPF) and Community Welfare Attache Jeddah, to bring the dead bodies to Pakistan as soon as possible. The Federal Minister further said that he shares the sufferings of the heirs. And will try to help Pakistan in every possible way. According to the Civil Defense, preliminary investigation report, the fire broke out due to non-compliance of security and safety requirements in the building.
