I felicitate the entire Pakistani nation and the international community on the beginning of the year 2023. On New Year’s Eve, I pray to Allah Almighty to make this year a year of blessings for Pakistan, the Pakistani nation, the Islamic and the whole world, and may Allah bless the entire world with peace, harmony, progress and prosperity. Ameen! Last year, the Pakistani nation faced various challenges. We overcame difficult situations due to our hard work, bravery, sacrifice, determination and resilience. After successfully containing the COVID-19 pandemic, Pakistan faced unprecedented floods across the country. I had the opportunity to visit the flood affected areas and see the devastation. I met with the struggling Pakistani people and heard their problems. During the floods, I got to see various issues, damages and the devastation due to floods, but I also got to see the steadfastness, sacrifice, patriotism, solidarity, determination and resilience of our nation. In order to get Pakistan out of problems and to put it on the path of development, we need to utilize the same values. Today, Pakistan is facing various challenges like economic difficulties, political instability, law and order situation, resurgence of terrorism, climate change, poverty and increasing population. In the new year, as a nation we must set our priorities correctly to overcome these challenges facing the nation. We need national solidarity, unity, discipline, persistent hard work, passion and dedication to make our country a prosperous, developed, democratic and stable country. The new year demands that we ensure increased functionality, effectiveness and efficiency of democratic institutions for a strong and stable Pakistan. We need to introduce reforms in the relevant laws and regulations to increase the efficiency of our institutions. This year, all the stakeholders have to take practical steps to uphold the constitution, dispense justice, ensure transparency, increase efficiency, uphold merit and timely redress the public grievances for the country’s development. We also have to speed up our efforts for the complete rehabilitation of the flood victims and lifting the weaker sections of the society out of poverty. The establishment of a comprehensive and inclusive society is not possible without the participation of differently-abled people and women in society, businesss and social activities. We have to adopt the habit of responsible use of our natural resources and energy, and we must pay special attention to the development, education and training of our human resources. On New Year’s Eve, let us pledge to embark on our journey towards making Pakistan a peaceful, prosperous and Islamic welfare state based on the cherished Islamic democratic principles. I pray to Allah Almighty to be our guide and supporter in achieving these goals and to make the year 2023 a year of development, stability and peace for Pakistan.
