Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, chaired the 4th meeting of Steering Committee for Coordination Regarding International Assistance for Flood Relief Activities in Ministry of Economic Affairs Islamabad today. The agenda of the meeting was “to discuss the proposed donors conference” The meeting was attended by the United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Europe Union (EU), World Bank (WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (EHCO), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FDCO), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, BISP and NDMA. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq warmly welcomed the participants and thanked the international development partners for their relentlese support. A summary on international flood relief assistance was sharee with representatives of the World Bank, ADB, USAID, FCDO, EU, UN and IMF. The chair stated that the date of the donors conference will be decided as soon as the Post Disaster Needs Assessment report is finalized. The PDNA will state the exact damage and losses which can be sharee with the development partners for the next part of reconstruction. The Development Partners suggested that a recovery plan will be essential for the reconstruction phase. The recovery plan should be sector specific in order to streamline the entire process. The meeting ended with the suggestion to reconvene after rhe PDNA was complete.
