The 5th meeting of National Commission for Minorities (NCM) chaired by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony held here today.  The Meeting discussed different agenda, which pertains to establish the district interfaith harmony in Islamabad. In this connection, a committee has been established which will comprise representatives of various religious groups amongst various sects. The meeting gave affirms commitment that NCM will extend full cooperation to District Interfaith Harmony Committee through strong periodic reporting and monitoring system. NCM will be taken on board by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony to suggest ways and means to strengthen inter-religious relations. Commission after recommended construction of 20 kanal land of Dialogues Centre for communal and interfaith purposes.

 

The objectives of National Policy on Interfaith have been discussed in the meeting, to combat intolerance among society through interfaith dialogues and provide assistance in case of problems among people and religion based issues. It was aimed to ensure freedom of religions for all in accordance with constitutional provisions of Pakistan to check the incitement to religious writing material, hate speeches, etc. It was also recommended to take measures for main streaming, social integration and economically self sustenance for minorities and equal opportunities to all. The meeting was attended by Secretary, M/O Interior and Secretary, M/O Law & Justice.
