National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Foundation University Islamabad to provide a one-year industrial training internship to the students of BSC information Engineering Technology.
Federal Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology Mr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon graced the signing ceremony along with the Rector of Foundation University Islamabad Maj Gen. ® Nasir Dilawar Shah (HI). Mr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon said that developing a larger pool of technical human resource is critical to reverse brain drain, improve standards of living, and achieve higher & just national growth. He appreciated NEECA for engaging with the academic institutions where fresh graduates, now, will be equipped with technical and professional capacities to thrive in the market as well as participate more productively in the national economy.
Managing Director of NEECA, Dr. Sardar Mohazzam said that the ever-increasing prices of energy and the impending global recession demand an enhanced focus on the indigenization of the energy efficient technologies and capacities. It was stressed by the MD NEECA that a critical mass of skilled local Human Resource in the domain of energy efficiency is absolutely necessary for the growth of this nascent energy efficiency market.
He shared that, during the past two and a half years, NEECA has institutionalized Energy Efficiency and Conservation across key sectors of the economy, especially the Building and Industrial Sectors, and is keen to ensure efficient and sustainable use of Energy in Pakistan through a business enabling policy framework. Currently, a National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Policy has been drafted after comprehensive consultations with the public and private sector stakeholders. And building the industrial and academic linkages for development of indigenous capacities in the field of energy efficiency is one of the major proposed policy interventions.
