The first quarterly meeting to discuss the future of National-Provincial coordination mechanism on youth affairs was held today in the federal capital. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on youth affairs presided the meeting, the action framework to improve the coordination on youth affairs was deliberated upon. The meeting was attended by representatives from youth departments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and representative from inter-provincial coordination ministry.
A coordination mechanism with the help of PILDAT and UNFPA will be developed to not only consolidate all the youth initiatives under one umbrella but that will also entail new avenues to engage and empower the youth of the country. The parties involved will include prime minister's youth affairs office, inter provincial coordination ministry, provincial youth departments and the civil society. Provinces will develop their own action frameworks for the youth of the province and the federation will provide oversight and support in achieving the goals to facilitate youth potential.
Youth is a cross-cutting subject, positive engagement of the youth of the country with effective coordination among provinces and the center will improve the initiatives taken for the youth by the incumbent government, said special assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja while speaking at the event. Ecommerce to improve employment opportunities, endowment models, public-private partnership, youth specific budget study, coordination on educational ventures were also discussed. Th national-provincial coordination meetings will be held quarterly to discuss the Youth development initiatives and the progress thereof.
