Senior consultant and radiologist Dr. Ayesha Isani Majeed called on Federal Minister for Human Rights Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada in his office in Islamabad. She discussed at length the potential of screening centre and issues they are facing particularly regarding the women empowerment and gender discrimination in her area of work. Dr. Ayesha is currently serving as Head of Radiology, Federal Breast Cancer Screening Centre at PIMS Islamabad. She is also looking after the project of Cancer Hospital in Islamabad as Project Director. She requested the minister that Ministry of Human Rights, in collaboration with Ministry of Health Services, should take concrete steps for more women empowerment; an inclusive environment and elimination of all kinds of gender disparities in health sector. She expressed her gratitude that the current government has revived the project of cancer hospital in Islamabad that was at standstill position for last few years. She especially acknowledged the efforts and patronage of Minister for Planning Prof. Ahsan Iqbal in this regard. While appreciating her services for awareness on breast cancer in Pakistan, minister stated that he would personally convey these concerns to the health minister and Ministry of Human Rights would take every possible step for uplift of women rights, gender equality, women empowerment and provision of equal opportunities at workplace.
