FEDERAL MINISTER FOR MARITIME AFFAIRS SYED FAISAL ALI SUBZWARI'S FIRST VISIT AT KARACHI PORT TRUST (KPT) AFTER ASSUMING MINISTER OFFICE

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari visited Karachi Port Trust (KPT) today. Chairman KPT Nadir Mumtaz along with senior officials of KPT welcomed the Minister and extended felicitations on assuming his charge. Chairman KPT briefed the Minister on the functioning, development and on-going activities at KPT. During briefing, the Minister showed concern over increasing marine pollution in the city that is causing great harm to not only marine habitat but also creating immense health problems for the citizen. To address this issue, the Minister assured coordination with all stake holders including Federal Government, Sindh Government and business community of Karachi to work towards its solution. The CBA at KPT also called on the Minister and discussed their employment issues and concerns for which minister assured to facilate them. The Minister also showed his concern on the regular traffic gridlock caused on the roads of Karachi; due to movement of containers from the Karachi Port. The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary - Maritime Ministry and other senior officials of KPT.
