Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met his counterpart from The Gambia, H.E. Dr.Mamadou Tangara, on the margins of the 48th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers being held in Islamabad today.
The two Ministers recalled their historic, fraternal and trust-based ties, anchored deeply in common faith and values. They exchanged views on regional and bilateral issues of mutual interest.
The excellent cooperation, shared perceptions and traditional support for each other at multilateral fora were highlighted during the interaction. Both sides expressed satisfaction at their bilateral relationship and expected the common desire for enhanced engagement at all levels.
Recalling visits by Gambian Minister for Interior, Minister of Communication and DG State Intelligence Services to Pakistan in 2021, FM Qureshi characterized it a welcome enhancement of bilateral contacts.
Both Ministers expressed readiness to conclude MoU for ‘Bilateral Political Consultations’ between the Foreign Ministries, Visa Abolition Agreement as well as enhancement of defense cooperation.
Expressing full support for the forthcoming 15th OICSummit scheduled in The Gambia in June 2022, Foreign Minister Qureshi proffered his best wishes for the Government and people of the brotherly country.
