STATEMENT OF MADAM NILOFAR BAKHTIAR, CHAIRPERSON NCSW ON THE ARREST OF THE MURDERER BY MIANWALI POLICE
Islamabad: March 10, 2022

"On the eve of 7th March, a horrendous crime took place in Mianwali city where a father brutally murdered his 7-days old daughter because he wanted a son instead. The murderer then fled from the scene and Mianwali police has been actively looking for him. Today he has been arrested, and our Police Department should be congratulated for their swift action against the murderer. National Commission on the Status of Women(NCSW) has been in constant contact with DPO Mianwali for effective resolution of this case and we would ensure that the murderer doesn't evade justice and is punished severely by the courts so that we can make an example out of him."
