Advisor to the PM on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Mr. Ayub Afridi and Advisor to the PM on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production, and Investment of Pakistan Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood oversaw the signing of MoU and DTF Agreement among Better Work Programme Global, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and HRD, and Ministry of Commerce. Secretary Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis opened the meeting by thanking and appreciating the efforts of all stakeholders involved in making this possible. He was of the view that BWP will ensure better working conditions for workers of the Textile industry and will make the industrial base compliant to international standards, boosting its growth. Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood stated that it is time the Pakistani Textile industry became self-sustainable and progressive instead of repeatedly coming to the government for help. He further said that through this programme the Pakistani Textile industry will be better able to achieve greater efficiency and productivity along with compliance to international standards, which will in turn boost our exports. Many industries in Pakistan have started to have better working conditions and are leading the local textile sector, and I believe this would give motivation to others to follow suit. We have received assurance of huge orders from foreign customers that are dependent on compliance with international standards for working conditions of labour. He said that Better Work Programme is coming to Pakistan at the best time when our textile industry in growing rapidly and this programme will be most needed and beneficial to strengthen our robust industrial growth. Our Textile industry is already quite competitive and I believe this is all that was needed to enhance our market share. Mr. Ayub Afridi thanked all the participants joining in person and online. He said that this partnership will surely enhance our Textile industry benefitting both the industrialists and the workers alike. He said that the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis will provide all possible support required in this partnership. He also said that this programme will give more confidence to our foreign customers to place orders to Pakistan. MoU and DTF Agreement were signed at the conclusion of the meeting to further proceed formally with the partnership.
