On the eve of International Women’s Day, MoU signing ceremony held here in Islamabad to establish the Stitching/processing Unit for Women Empowerment Centres (WECs) of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM). In the presence of Turkish Envoy H.E Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul and his spouse, Managing Director PBM Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar and President Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Muhsin Balci signed the MoU.
The MoU explains the support of TIKA with PBM to establish the Stitching/Processing unit in the premises of F-9 park. The best quality finished items being prepared in 161 WECs of PBM, will be brought in these stitching units for necessary alteration, finishing, packaging and price tagging process, to sell out in a shop hired at centralized commercial location in the capital city. As an incentive, the female trainers and the trainees will be offered 75% of the profit earned, while the remaining 25% will be spent on Up-gradation of the concerned WEC.
Highlighting the cordial relations between the two counties, Turkish Ambassador, H.E Ihsan Mustafa appreciated PBM’s efforts to empower the vulnerable women of the country. He also vowed for the sustainable partnership with PBM for social services. Managing Director PBM expressed his gratitude to Turkish Envoy and his Spouse for extending their philanthropic cooperation with PBM. He also admired the worldwide humanitarian services of TIKA and also highlighted the various collaborative initiatives with PBM.
Malik Zaheer Abbas said today’s event will serve as a milestone in the journey of women towards economic emancipation and self reliance. “It is the vision of our Government to bring the women in main-stream so as to ensure the economic stability in the country”, he added while paying tribute to all the working women. He said today’s modern era demands innovative interventions for high quality professional skills and PBM is now implementing the concept to establish Stitching Unit for on-ground & online selling of best quality finished products of PBM-WECs throughout the country.
