Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council and Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Interfaith Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has said that the purpose of targeting Muslim and non-Muslim religious leaders is creating chaos in the country and on the other hand conspiracies are being hatched to spread sectarian violence.
"We have to thwart these conspiracies by mutual consensus and unity andwe have already defeated extremism and terrorism and will continue to do so, InshAllah" He, further added.
He ensured that the culprits of Christian religious leader William Siraj will be soon arrested and punished. He further mentioned that Pakistani ulemas, scholars religious leaders and Muslims stand side by side with their Christian community.
He shared these views on the occasion of offering condolences on the murder of william Siraaj on behalf of the Prime Minister Imran Khan to Bishop of the Peshawar Capital Church . While addressing a press conference Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said that Pakistan’s enemy forces intend to spoil Pakistan-Afghanistan relations by creating chaos in Pakistan after the failures in Afghanistan. He stressed that the whole nation of Pakistan was saddened by the recent attack on Christian religious leaders and no one could be allowed to play with the peace and security of Pakistan. He said that Christian leaders have been targeted because they are Pakistanis.The assassinations are aimed at creating unrest in the country and targeting Pakistanis, he said, that interfaith harmony has increased over the past years and such incidents of violence have come down drastically and but now external forces are targeting innocent people to tarnish Pakistan's image. He said that Police , Provincial Government and the country's security agencies are working hard and hopefully the criminals will be caught soon. He conveyed the condolences of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to the family of Pastor William Siraj and assured them of all possible cooperation. "The whole nation shares the grief of the Christian community and we stand by the minorities living in Pakistan. We will not allow anyone to destroy the rights of the Pakistani minorities or target them," he said. People who did this are neither friends of Islam and Pakistan nor friends of humanity. He said that peace has come after the sacrifices of 80,000 Pakistanis.The institutions of Pakistan and the state itself stand side by side with the minorities of the country.
