The Cabinet Committee on Transportation and Logistics (CCoTL) took a momentous decision to reduce traffic congestion in the city of Karachi in Islamabad. The committee, chaired by Minister of Maritime Syed Ali Haider Zaidi decided that once Pipri Marshalling Yard is commissioned, all containerized cargo coming in to KPT will be transferred to the bonded Pipri Marshalling Yard and custom clearance including de-stuffing will be done at the bonded Pipri Marshalling Yard. This will greatly reduce the heavy traffic congestion of large vehicles on the roads of Karachi. Chopper Licensing Policy, KPT to Pipri Dedicated Freight Corridor, Q-Flex Vessels at Port Qasim Karachi, Charges collected by Ports on Hydro Carbons and a New Rail Link from PBIT Terminal in Port Qasim were also discussed in detail. Federal Minister for Railways Mr. Azam Swati, Federal Minister for Civil Aviation Mr. Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Advisor on Commerce Mr. Razzaq Dawood, Chairman Port Qasim Rear Admiral Syed Hasan Nasir Shah, Chairman KPT Mr. Nadir Mumtaz, Chairman PNSC Mr. Rizwan Ahmed, Chairman Ogra Mr. Masroor Khan, Secretaries and other important officials also attended the meeting. Minister further directed the attendees that the committee will follow up on the agendas in the upcoming meeting.
