INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS TERM EHSAAS TALEEMI WAZAIF APP REVOLUTIONARY TO PROMOTE EDUCATION FOR ALL

Ehsaas hosted a high-level panel discussion with country heads of international development partners to celebrate the launch of Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif app. The event themed around, “Role of conditional cash transfers in improving Human Capital Development in Pakistan”. Senator Dr. Sania Nishtar, SAPM chaired the event. Discussions profoundly resonated with the theme of International Education Day 2022, “Changing Course, Transforming Education”. Expert panelists were—Dr. Christian Turner, British High Commissioner to Pakistan; Najy Benhassine, Country Director, the World Bank; Yong Ye, Country Director, Asian Development Bank (ADB); Aida Girma, Country Representative, UNICEF; and Naveed Akbar, Director General, Ehsaas Conditional Cash Transfers. Secretary Ismat Tahira was also present on the occasion. Panelists shared their experiences in administering education conditional cash transfer programmes. The fully digital, Ehsaas School Stipends/Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif programme was widely lauded. Reflecting on the recent launch of Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif application, Dr. Sania said, “Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif mobile app will empower millions of Ehsaas beneficiary families to self-register their children at the doorstep. This digitization is a result of massive hard work coupled with digital and reformative actions adapted over the last three years to ensure integrity and inclusion.” Felicitating the successful launch of Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif app, Dr. Christian Turner, British High Commissioner stated, “What is happening with Ehsaas is quite extraordinary, groundbreaking and at speed with transformative intervention.” Country Director the World Bank, Najy Benhassine commended the Taleemi Wazaif of Ehsaas and said, “Our new strategy for Pakistan in the coming 5 years is targeted on girls’ education. We support Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif, expansion of the conditional cash transfer programme and education system as a whole.” “We are pleased to know that the Government is expanding the conditional cash transfer programme across the country”, said Country Director ADB, Yong Ye. Country Representative UNICEF, Aida Girma said, “I would like to commend the Government of Pakistan for prioritizing the Ehsaas programme.” Government of Pakistan’s Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif aims at providing financial assistance to those at the bottom of the pyramid for the education of their children up to higher secondary level.
