Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a bilateral meeting with the Transport Minister of Uzbekistan Mr. Ilkhom Makhamov on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad today. The talks covered the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, with special focus on trade and economic relations, and connectivity agenda. The Foreign Minister underscored the need for early implementation of Uzbekistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (UPTTA). The two sides noted with satisfaction the progress made on the Trans-Afghan railway project and expressed commitment for its timely completion. The Foreign Minister highlighted the worsening economic and financial situation in Afghanistan. He underscored the importance of urgent support of the international community for provision of immediate humanitarian and economic assistance to the people of Afghanistan. Both sides committed to further strengthening of bilateral relations in all areas.
