OVER 200 PUBLICATIONS IDENTIFIED FOR REMOVAL FROM CML. COMMITTEE ASKED TO SCRUTINISE
Islamabad: December 05, 2021

A list of over two hundred publications has been sent to Advertisements Complaints Redressal Committee (ACRC) for scrutiny and final recommendations for removal from Central Media List (CML). These publications include newspapers and periodicals which were reported as not regular and many have not provided a single printed copy over the last two months to the designated offices and that there attendance was zero. The PID had initiated a system of online attendance for publications with the objective to streamline the circulation of newspapers and periodicals throughout Pakistan. All the publications on the CML are required to provide their printed editions either to PID Islamabad or to the Regional Information Offices in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Gilgit, Larkana and Skardu. The initiative has helped to further streamline government-media relations including allocation of public sector advertisements. This will also help weed out dummy newspapers and will promote healthy journalism in the country. During scrutiny the committee will also consult APNS, CPNE and other journalists bodies before final recommendations to remove defaulter publications from CML.
