6 member US delegation headed by congressman, Gregory Meeks, U.S. House of Representatives called on Dr. Moeed Yusuf. The officials discussed the situation in Afghanistan along with Pak-US bilateral ties. Dr. Moeed yusuf expressed deep concern on deteriorating humanitarian situation in Afghanistan as nearly 60 per cent of Afghan population expected to face extreme level of hunger. “The world needs to devise an effective system by which assistance can reach Afghan men women and children before winter”, he said. Dr. Moeed Yusuf further expressed, “Afghanistan financial and banking system are in disarray. The problem must be resolved quickly to avert the collapse of system in the country.” National Security Advisor said that Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, had undergone a transformation and shifted its priorities from geopolitics to geo-economics. Dr. Moeed yusuf said, “Pakistan focused to leverage its geo-economic position by partnering with the world under the economic security model”. Pakistan wants economic partnerships and investment from U.S. He further expressed that U.S. companies doing successful business in Pakistan is in best interest of both countries. The officials agreed to move in positive direction all areas of mutual interest.
