A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka today to mark the nation’s 75th Independence Day, says a press release received here today from Dhaka. While keeping in view Covid guidelines, a large number of Pakistanis in Bangladesh attended the ceremony. The official ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Qura’n following which high Commissioner Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem. Messages by the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the occasion were read out by the Head of Chancery and Commercial Secretary. In his brief remarks, the High Commissioner recounted the sacrifices made by the leaders of the Pakistan Movement for the emancipation and welfare of the Muslims of South Asia. He paid glowing tribute to the vision and struggle of the founding leaders, including, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Sir Salim Ullah Khan, Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy and A.K. Fazlul Huq. The High Commissioner also drew attention to the sufferings of the Kashmiri people and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to their just struggle. The High Commissioner felicitated Pakistanis all over the world on the occasion while recalling the vision the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to develop Pakistan into a welfare state. To mark the Independence Day, the High Commission organized an exhibition displaying rare photographs of the nation’s founding Father and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement. Pakistan community members and other guests took keen interest in the photo exhibition and thanked the High Commission for organizing it.
