President Dr. Arif Alvi has stressed the need for providing information about rare historic artefacts digitally as well as ensuring the adequate lighting of showcases at the Aiwan-e-Nawadrat-e-Quaid-e-Azam to attract researchers and history enthusiasts. He asked the relevant quarters to take steps for the installation of 3D-animated displays to attract visitors and humidity controlled showcases to preserve historic documents and artefacts. He stated that adequate space was needed in order to better manage the flow of visitors at the museum. The President gave these remarks while chairing a follow up meeting about the renovation and up-gradation of Aiwan-e-Nawadrat-e-Quaid-i-Azam (ANQA) and National Museum of Pakistan (NMP), at Governor House, today. The meeting was attended by senior officials of National Heritage and Culture Division, and officials of Quaid-i-Azam Mazar Management Board (QMMB).
The meeting was briefed about the proposals for the renovation and up-gradation of ANQA and NMP. While expressing satisfaction over the proposals, the President urged the need to expedite necessary approvals and fulfill all the procedural requirements at the earliest. He also called for incorporating appropriate fire-safety measures in the proposals. The President was also briefed about the proposal for the establishment of Digitization Centre for almost 20,000 historic manuscripts available at the National Museum of Pakistan. He asked for constituting an advisory committee to design a comprehensive master-plan for the renovation of building structure of NMP, upgrading the laboratory for the preservation of old documents, and increasing the facilities for the visitors.
