A community event was held in Abu Dhabi to observe ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ and reaffirm Pakistan’s support to the struggle of Kashmiri people against Indian subjugation and illegal occupation, says a press release received from Abu Dhabi here today.
The event was attended by Pakistani and Kashmiri community members in the UAE. The messages from the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi were read out to the audience.
Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE H.E. Afzaal Mahmood, while addressing the gathering, reaffirmed Pakistan’s moral, diplomatic and political support to the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right of self-determination. The Ambassador said that people in the Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir were a part of Pakistani nation and Pakistanis would always stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them.
The Ambassador said that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir is under inhuman military siege since August 5, 2019. Millions of Kashmiris are held prisoners in their own homes with over 900,000 Indian troops holding them hostage. Basic human rights of life, liberty, education and health have been denied to them. There has been complete information and communication blockade for last 18 months. These illegal actions have caused enormous human sufferings and constitute a blatant violation of fundamental rights.
Ambassador Mahmood reaffirmed Government of Pakistan’s unwavered support to the Kashmiri people saying Pakistan has always raised Kashmir issue at international forums as its obligation and will continue to do so. Pakistan’s ultimate objective remains the resolution of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) dispute as per the wishes of the Kashmiri people and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
During the event, a documentary was screened depicting gross human rights violations being committed by the Indian occupation forces. A photo exhibition presenting sufferings of Kashmiris was also organized at the Embassy Compound.
Towards closing of the events, special prayers were offered for the Kashmiri martyrs as well as for early resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
