Federal Minister for Narcotics Control, Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah met with Mr. Muhammad Ali Saeed A. Boassaibah, First Secretary, Drug Liaison Officer (DLO) at the Ministry of Narcotics Control. The Federal Minister put emphasis on the importance of role of a DLO in combating narcotics and formulating a comprehensive strategy for finding solutions of faced problems.
Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah discussed his vision about controlling the drug problem through demand reduction strategy. The DLO appreciated the idea and ensured all possible cooperation in this regard. "Drug free society is very important to secure the future of our upcoming generations" said the Minister.
Narcotics problem is not associated with one region or country but its being faced at global level, therefore, it cannot be dealt with in isolation. He further added.
Better and timely exchange of information can play a significant role in combating this problem, the Minister said. This will also help in overcoming the issue of smuggling and supply of narcotics. He said.
Rehabilitation is also very important part of the process, the ones who fall victim to this menace of drugs. "The ones who becomes addicts are actually the victims, the suppliers are the real culprits" said Ijaz Shah.
The meeting concluded with the promise that both countries will strive to do better in order to completely eliminate drugs from society.
