All stakeholders,including Ministries of Commerce,Finance,Maritime Affairs,National Food Security and Research (NFSR) and FBR are cooperating with each other for wheat import. This was said by Secretary NFSR,Omar Hamid Khan on Monday while chairing meeting on wheat import.Additional Secretary,Syed Anwar ul Hassan Bokhari briefed participants about wheat import situation. The current wheat stock is 6,315,738 tonnes.FBR has waived off regulatory duty @ 60% on the import of wheat and with holding tax.Ministry of Commerce also made it clear that wheat import is allowed under wake of new WTO regime. It was also discussed that quantity of protein and moisture in wheat should also be given importance.Ministry of Maritime Affairs confirmed that berths at Port Qasim,KPT and terminal of private company will be available for wheat import. Priority berthing will also be given.
