President Dr.Arif Alvi has emphasized the need for strictly following the preventive measures in view of increasing cases of Corona virus in the country. The President said the Pandemic had brought many challenges that could be met with the active support of all segments of society as well as efficient coordination between the federal and provincial governments. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting, attended by Federal Minister for Interior, Brig (Retd )Ijaz Hussain Shah, Federal Minster for Religious Affair & Interfaith Harmony ,Mr. Noor UL Haq Qadri, and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr. Zafar Mirza, at Awan-e- Sadr, today.
The Ministers shared their proposals with the President how to implement the Standing Operating Procedures with regard to Corona virus during eid shopping and buying of sacrificial animals on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha. The President asked the ministers to share their proposals with provincial governments and take all stakeholders on board to ensure their implementation. He urged the people to avoid visiting crowded places and follow SOPs at the time of buying sacrificial animals and religious congregations on the eve of Eid-ul- Azha. He said negligence on the part of people could worsen the situation as corona cases had considerably increased in the country. The President also appreciated the role of Ulema ,media and medical community which had done a commendable job in creating awareness among people about the disease. The President expressed the hope that Ulema, media and medical community would continue their efforts to educate the people to avoid visiting crowded places and observe social distancing.
