PRESS STATEMENT ON PROTEST AT TAL BLOCK, KOHAT DISTRICT
Islamabad June 15, 2020

Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division has taken notice of the attempt to mobilise agitation and protest in District Kohat to threaten the supply of gas and oil from exploration sites. Spokesperson said that holding of protest within 2 Km of a Category 1A Key Point installation is against the law. The Petroleum Division has drawn attention of the KP government to this and requested for action to ensure no untoward activity takes place which could stall the continued supply of oil and gas from the site areas. Secretary Petroleum in his letter to Chief Secretary KP has requested that directions be issued to concerned departments to ensure that the supply and transportation of gas and oil from Tal Block will not hampered. The Ministry of Energy values the international investment in E&P sector in Pakistan and is closely monitoring the situation and such rabble will not be tolerated at any cost. It is noteworthy to mention here that Petroleum Division has allocated funds for the distribution system and provision of gas to the local population in addition to facilitating development of infrastructure.
