PETROLEUM DIVISION ACTIVILEY CONTRIBUTES IN PM's CLEAN GREEN PAKISTAN CAMPAIGN

Spokesperson for Petroleum Division says that Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), being an important stakeholder, took part in the tree plantation drive of the federal government through E&P operators in Prime Minister's launched Clean Green Pakistan Campaign. By till date, 561,090 number of trees have been planted by 12 operators cumulatively at their own expense, out of which 148,017 have been planted during the tenure of the current government. The top contributors in this performance are ENI which planted 50,000 plus trees and MPCL which planted 34,457 trees during the tenure of the current government. Spokesperson reiterats that Petroleum Division shall vigorously continue to participate in national campaigns and development of the country. The Prime Minister of Pakistan launched the Clean Green Pakistan Movement (CGPM) on 13th October 2018. This national campaign underpins behavioral change and institutional strengthening. Although Pakistan is not a major contribution to global warming, yet it is the seventh most affected country mainly due to the CO2 emissions by neighbouring countries and the region. In order to increase the forest coverage, plantation is included as a main component of the CGPM.
