President Dr. Arif Alvi asked the vice chancellors of medical universities to expand the spectrum of research with special focus on diseases like Covid-19. He urged the medical universities to undertake research in medical field and follow international research standards so as to address the challenges of health sector. He gave these directions while chairing a meeting of the Vice Chancellors of Medical Universities about Covid-19, at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, today. The President emphasized that the universities required to provide quality education and produce good quality of students.
The vice chancellors briefed the meeting about the health care initiatives taken by their respective medical institutions in view of the corona pandemic. In this regard, they highlighted the measures taken by medical universities, including arranging training courses for doctors and paramedics, establishing isolation wards and developing technical and operational guidelines for teachers and health workers.
The vice chancellors apprised the meeting that the universities had established IT infrastructure to provide online education and continue other academic activities. The President appreciated the important role being played by the health professionals and medical universities in the prevailing situation of Covid-19.
