The fifth meeting of the Islamabad Local Government Commission was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of SAPM on CDA, Ali Nawaz Awan.A briefing, regarding future procedures of sanitary workers pay ,was given. Special Assistant to Prime Minister CDA, Ali Nawaz Awan, also discussed the salary issues of the sanitary workers.The CDA member finance briefed the commission on the payment of salaries.Director Sanitation Sardar Khan Zmarai briefed the commission on the cleaning contract in Islamabad.He said that the out-of-town places for the dumping station are being finalized.This will solve the sanitation problem in both urban and rural areas.Chairman Ali Nawaz Awan said on the occasion that officials of the Ministry of Climate Change should also be called next meeting in this regard.In addition, Ali Nawaz Awan, while giving a deadline, said that the salaries of MCI sanitation staff should be paid by July.Tayyaba Ibrahim submitted the inquiry report of the subcommittee to the commission and briefed on the corruption of billions of rupees.Sub committee was praised for completing the inquiry in short time period.Speaking on the occasion, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Member Local Government Commission, said that the inquiry would be reached till conclusion. And those responsible should be punished.Mushahid Hussain Syed, Member Local Government Commission, said that for three years the FIA has been investigating BTS Towers Tax Recovery but no report has been submitted yet.Therefore, the FIA Director and IO should be summoned at the next meeting.Ali Bukhari said that if the subcommittee started inquiry, there will be a tax recovery of Rs 5 crore in two days.During the meeting, allegations of corruption by the committee against the mayor in the cattle market last year were also rejected.Committee Chairman Ali Nawaz said how this can be called corruption as no market was placed.He added that it can be called mismanagement, the cattle market was not auctioned due to lack of time.The cattle market cannot be auctioned for less than past auctions under PEPRA Rules.He added that the commission may suggest that the next cattle market auction be held on time.The report also revealed that more than 800 illegal signal towers have been installed in Islamabad.The towers that are registered also have tax evaders worth crores of rupees.Apart from this in advertisemsnt there was also embezzlement.Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Ali Bukhari, Mayor Islamabad also attended the meeting. In addition, Home Office officials including Chief Officer MCI Syeda Shafaq Hashmi were also present. ,
