Special Assistant to Prime minister\Minister of State Interior Barrister Shahzad Akbar chaired a meeting to devise the strategy to control the spread of Coronavirus(Covid-19) in Islamabad at Ministry of Interior today.
MNA Raja khurram Nawaz, MNA Ali Nawaz Awan, Secretary Interior, additional Secretary-II Interior, chief Commissioner ICT, Inspector General of Police ICT, Deputy Commissioner ICT and DIG Operations ICT attended the meeting.
SPAM briefed about the increase in the local Spread of Coronavirus. He said that next two weeks are very crucial in this regard.
Effective coordination of relevant departments is to be ensured to be ensured to track infected people, lockdown of COVID-19 hit areas and for the implementation of social distancing drive, he added.
In the light of disussion the following decisions were taken:
With the coordination of ministry of Health and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)a future strategy would be devised with respect to increased number of rapid response teams and to for the availability of minimum 100 bedded hospital facility at ICT specific to COVID-19 patients.
The basic health units of ICT shall be made operational upto 50% capacity
Provision of protective gears for healthcare workers, police officials and others, who are performing duties related to Covid_19 at the earliest
Directions of National Coordination Committee on COVID-19 related to lockdown, assessment of data, to ensure supply line of essential commodities and discouraging religious gathering especially Friday prayers limiting the number of participants to bare minimum. Shall be followed strictly in letter and spirit.
Zakat committee of ICT made operational and disbursement of Rs. 3000/- to be started immediately.
