The news item published in a section of press regarding irregularities in appointments of Junior Technicians in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) particularly in appointments of Junior Laboratory Technicians of Pathology Department of the diploma holders in other specialties is baseless, false and denied in to-to. The eligibility criteria published in the national newspapers for the posts of Junior Technicians was; (i) Matric with Science, and (ii) Certificate in the relevant field. As per Government instructions received through Established Division, candidates applied to Open Testing Service (OTS). After closing date, OTS carried out short listing process and eligible candidates were called for written test. After competitive examination, OTS sent top five candidates for each post to PIMS for interviews by the Departmental Selection Committee constituted for the purpose.
It is further clarified by the Spokesperson of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) also clarified that Mr.Kamran Saeed has been appointed as Junior Technician (ECG), who has possessed F.Sc. (Pre-Medicial) with one year Certificate of ECG Technician from College of Medical Technology (CMT), PIMS. He has also possessed vast experience of ECG Technician as he worked in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi from 2015 till his appointment in PIMS in Febraury, 2020.
Secondly, Mr. Muhammad Usman has been appointed as Junior Technician (ECG), who has possessed F.Sc. (Pre-Medicial) with one year Certificate in ECG from Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore. He has worked as ECG Technician at Yousaf Medical Centre & Maternity Home, Lahore from 2016 to 2018. In addition, he has also possessed Certificate of Dispenser from Punjab Medical Faculty, Lahore.
Thirdly, Ms. Narjis Khatoon has been appointed as Junior Laboratory Technician in Pathology Department of PIMS, who has possessed higher qualification of B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology with vast experience as Laboratory Technician in Becon Laboratory, Islamabad and PIMS.
Fourhtly, Ms Amna Khan has been appointed as Junior Laboratory Technician in Pathology Department of PIMS, who has possessed qualification of B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology & M.Sc in Microbiology with vast experience as Technologist and visiting Lecturer at CMT, PIMS.
It would be appropriate to mention here that as per Government’s policy, all appointments in PIMS have been made purely on merit subject to verification of character and antecedents. Educational documents and experience certificates of all employees recruited in PIMS recently are being sent for verification from the concerned quarters. Therefore, any irregularity in these appointments as reported in a section of press and receipt of bribery for the same is baseless, false and denied in to-to.
