A meeting was held in Ministry of NHSRC with Dr. Zafar Mirza Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health in the chair to discuss preparation for prevention and control of Dengue fever.
The meeting was attended by Executive Director NIH, Maj. Gen. Aamer Ikram, ADC Islamabad Dr. Asif Rahim, Heads of Hospitals of twin cities and other experts attended.
We need to be fully prepared to meet the dengue challenge this year and take all necessary measures to safeguard the health of our people well ahead of time, said Dr. Zafar Mirza while addressing the meeting.
Director Malaria Control Mr. Mukhtar briefed the participants about the operational plan and highlighted the main features of 5-Years Plan of Action (2020-2024)
Dr. Zafar Mirza instructed the technical experts to make all possible efforts in close coordination to prevent any outbreak in the twin city. He also said for better control we should adopt Integration approach
Dr. Zafar Mirza assured that all possible support will be provided by his Ministry. He also said that all major housing authorities and societies should be on board for better control. In this regard a meeting will be convened with these socities within next week Students from universities and colleges will be taken on board as volunteers
Dr. Zafar Mirza also instructed the Directorate of Malaria to prepare PC-I for the sustainable control of Vector Borne Diseases in Pakistan
He also said that Junkyards in Twin cities will be managed jointly with MCI, CDA and local administration
Dr. Zafar Mirza said that for the first time pesticides industry in Pakistan has also been taken on board for control of dengue A meeting with Climate Change Ministry will also be organized for management of junk yards in twin cities. He said that we are developing standarized guidelines and SOPs for spray, fogging and larviciding etc.
