President Dr. Arif Alvi Chairs 2nd Meeting of the Federal Task Force on Population

President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, has said that in order to manage population growth, we would have to efficiently utilize our limited resources and increase the outreach of family management services throughout the country. He said this while chairing the 2nd meeting of the Federal Task Force on Population in Pakistan at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Friday. Various items of the agenda came under discussion during the meeting. Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform, Asad Umer, SAPM on Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, SAPM on Information & Broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman, Health Minister Punjab, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Minister for Population Welfare Department Punjab, Sardar Hashim Dogar, Minister for Population and Health Sindh, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuhu, Minister for Population Balochistan, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Special Assistant to CM KP on Population Welfare, Syed Ahmed Hussain Shah, were present during the meeting. The President underscored that raising public awareness about the population explosion is of paramount importance. In this regard, national narrative must be effectively disseminated through media campaigns and proactive involvement of Ulema, he added. The meeting was briefed on the progress made on the decisions taken in the 1st meeting. The President expressed satisfaction over the progress and underscored that concerted efforts must be made to tackle this issue and ensure sustainable development of the country.
