Federal Minister for Interior Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah met with the Iranian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Seyed Mohammed Ali Hosseini at the Ministry of Interior.

The Iranian Ambassador Mr. Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini extended the salutations of Iranian Interior Minister to Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah and also asked him to visit Iran to improve bilateral ties. The Federal Minister for Interior Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah welcomed the offer and thanked the Ambassador. Special Security Committee between the two countries was also discussed, it was said that the proposed dates are under consideration. While discussing the mutual problems, the Federal Minister for Interior Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah said that we are trying our best to overcome issues around border. Specifically talking about the smuggling issue, he said that anti smuggling policy has been formulated and we hope that the successful execution of the set framework will help us eradicate this menace from our bordering areas. The Federal Minister emphasized over the fact that mostly basic neccessity items are smuggled. To overcome this challenge we are undertaking the projects of creating border markets, he further said that once the basic needs of people are fulfilled, the incentive to incline towards illegal means will automatically reduce. The Ambassador H.E. S.M Ali Hosseinie welcomed the idea of Border markets and said that if this issue could be overcomed, that would be a great progress. Both sides agreed on working on solution of mutually faced problems and cooperate on all possible lines. The Interior Minsiter said that we are keen on improving bilateral relations and our Prime Minister has visited twice for the same purpose. We hope that the mutual ties improve over coming period of time as well, he added. The Ambassador discussed matters of mutual concerns and the meeting concluded with working together towards the possible solutions.
