MR. SETH BERKLEY, CEO GLOBAL VACCINE ALLIANCE (GAVI) CALLED ON PRIME MINISTER IMRAN KHAN
Islamabad: January 22, 2020

Mr. Seth Berkley, CEO Global Vaccine Alliance (Gavi) called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on slidelines of WEF Annual meeting 2020 at Davos. SAPM Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, Ambassador at Large on Investments Ali Jehangir Siddiqui were also present. The Prime Minister apprised the CEO of government’s policy reforms for strengthening the health sector in Pakistan. PM Imran Khan appreciated continuous support extended by GAVI to Pakistan to protect children against deadly but preventable diseases. He said that Pakistan became the first country in the world to introduce Typhoid vaccine in its Routine Immunization schedule. The Prime Minister highlighted government’s efforts to eradicate polio from the country and to achieve the goal of Universal Immunization Coverage. He further informed that government was streamlining financing mechanism of Routine Immunization program. Mr. Berkley acknowledged steps taken by the government and assured GAVI’s support and cooperation.
