A meeting regarding installation of E gates was chaired by Hadsan Nasir Jami,Federal Secreatry for Aviation on Wednesday at Aviation Division.Initially E gates will be instalked at 7 airports,invluding Karachi,Islamabad,Lahore,Peshawar,Quetta,Multan and Faislabad.E gates will be installed in 2 phases.Federal secretary stated that E gates' data will be protected in any ase under Cyber Security Law.He added that all airports should adopt passenger-friendly innovative models of facilitation for the visiting overseas Pakistanis, tourists, entrepreneurs and investors.He added that there must be a total change of attitude to handle the passengers at airports. It is interesting to note that E gates are automated self-service barriers at immigration checkpoints on airports.an alternative to using desks staffed by immigration officers.The gates use facial recognition technology to verify the traveller's identity, as well as run the data against numerous databases to determine if the traveller is a security risk.
